Bonnie Byrum – Office Manager
Bonnie grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended Jefferson High School and enjoyed Marching Band, choir and swimming. Later she moved to Iowa City, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. Bonnie has two sons, Jeff who lives in North Liberty, Iowa, and Monte who lives in Las Flores, Ca.
Bonnie started as Dr. Byrum’s office manager in January of 1990. The office was growing so quickly and Dr. Byrum needed extra help with all of the work that his growing practice was generating. Working together as husband and wife has been a rewarding journey, with being able to share ideas about how they can expand their business and help their community.
“I love seeing people with healthy, happy smiles leaving our office and referring their friends, family and co-workers to us.” says Bonnie. “We have been able to change people’s lives by giving them a reason to have a confident smile.”
"I am from Taylor Ridge, IL and have spent most of my life in the Quad Cities. I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. I worked with Dr. Byrum for many years before moving to cental IL for my husband's job. I missed the Quad City area and my family here. So when Dr. Byrum asked me to come back in November of 2011, I jumped at the opportunity! My husband is a teacher in the North Scott school district and we have three young kids that keep us very busy. We love to travel as a family and get many of our destination ideas from my patients! I have a passion for making sure that my patients feel comfortable and are educated about their dental treatment."
Mandy (dental assistant)
I’m a Registered Dental Assistant and I have been with Byrum Family Dentistry since 2002. I live in Bettendorf with my son and our dog and cat. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I’m a huge music lover, and attend as many concerts as I can get away with. I also love watching football (GO DOLPHINS!), reading, making jewelry, and walking on the bike path. My favorite part of my job is meeting and chatting with all of our wonderful patients, and helping them maintain optimal oral health.
I've been a Dental Hygienist with Pleasant Valley Dentistry since 2008. I was born and raised in St. Joseph, Michigan and completed my dental hygiene degree at Carl Sandburg College. I've been married for 17 years and have 2 lovely children whom are very active in sports and keep us very busy. In my spare time, I enjoy running and spending time with family and friends. I love my job! The best part is helping patients overcome their dental anxieties and achieve a smile that they are proud of.
Patti (dental assistant)
I am a dental assistant at Pleasant Valley Dentistry. I have been a Certified Dental Assistant for over 40 years. I am also a Registered Dental Assistant and in 2012, I also became an Expanded Functions Assistant. I received my education from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. I am very involved with IDAA, my state association, and I am currently on the board for the 8th District Dental Assistants Association. I absolutely love what I do. Helping patients work through their initial fears of coming to the dentist and watching them become great patients is so fulfilling. I love working with all ages, however, I think one for my favorite ages is the little ones. Having a child come to the office for treatment and walking them out pinky to pinky with a smile on their face gives you warm fuzzies. I grew up in Dubuque and have two fantastic grown kids. My daughter is an Optometrist, practicing in Connecticut, and my son is an Animator with Scientific Games in Ankeney, IA. Both graduated from IA State University. I live along the Mississippi river. Water has a very calming effect, so I am ready to take on all the new adventures working for Pleasant Valley Dentistry brings.
Jessica (dental assistant)
I am a dental assistant at Pleasant Valley Dentistry and have worked here since December 2013. I received my Dental Assisting schooling at Midwest Technical Institute and completed my training here at the office. I was excited when a position became available!
I previously worked at a preschool for 5 years and have a Bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology. Being a dental assistant means a lot to me as I have always valued dental care and loved going to the dentist when I was a kid.
I enjoy being with my boyfriend and our dog Eta, being outside, traveling, and live music.
I have worked in the dental field for 20 years. The best part of my job is getting to know the patients and being part of their great dental experience.
In my free time I enjoy biking, outdoor activities and spending time with my husband and two grown children.
